Crit Cross #25 / Totalitarianism, Art & Social Criticism, panel discussion
5. Mai

Depot – Kunst und Diskussion, Breite Gasse 3
Verein K discussed the role of art and writing in difficult political contexts with over 50 guests since its foundation in 2017. As illiberalism continues to rise, we collectively decided to focus on the interface between art and social criticism in 2025, with Zoran Erić as our first guest. Erić is an astute observer of the rise of the authoritarian regime — and the resistance against it — in Serbia. Having served as curator and Chief Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade until 2021, he is well placed to discuss resistance to totalitarianism in art and beyond that will become ever more valuable.
Zoran Erić, art critic and curator, Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, Belgrade
Moderation: Klaus Speidel, Universität für angewandte Kunst, Verein K, Vienna
